Power Company Waconia High Schools’ “High Voltage Show Choir” is a competitive Show choir that consists of 44 singers a 15-piece band (Megawatt) and a 4-member stage crew. They are directed by Aaron Olson and Associate Director Kevin Barnard along with Sue Snorek, Director of Megawatt. Power Company is choreographed by the Amazing Damon Brown from Carmel Indiana. Power Company combines beautiful singing and dancing with amazing costumes and props to create a thrilling 20 minute “Vegas” style show. We perform a wide variety of “pop” music from Broadway show tunes to the latest “chart toppers”. We take our show on the road beginning in January competing at Show Choir Invitationals throughout the Midwest. This year we will be competing in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois. Power Company was started in 1998 as the “Wildcat Show Choir” and performed with 24 singers and a rhythm section. The Power Company family of show choirs now includes “Shockwave” from Clearwater Middle School and “The Current” our new JV Show Choir at Waconia High School. There are now over 150 students involved in Show Choir in Waconia. Auditions for Power Company are held in the Spring of each year for next year’s ensemble. Power Company holds a camp in July where we learn our competitive show. In August we hold two weeks of evening vocal rehearsals. September and October we will rehearse a few Saturdays a month. We begin our regular rehearsal schedule in mid-November when we rehearse Tuesday and Thursday Evenings from 7:00-9:30 PM. Members of Power Company continue to be strong leaders in our school and community. We are very proud that we are able to accommodate students who are also involved in such activities as football, basketball, swimming, cross country, FCCLA, Jazz Band and many more. |
