Jenna Ely

Jenna Ely has danced since the age of 3, growing up at The Summit Dance Shoppe, where she participated on the top competitive line, as well as the Pointe Ballet Theatre group and Boy/Girl select group. She graduated in 2008 from the University of Iowa with a degree in Dance and Journalism, and a minor in Communications. While at the University, Jenna performed the works of such choreographers as George de la Pena, Alan Sener, Deanna Carter, and was featured in a piece of the Louis Falco repertoire. She has performed at the American College Dance Festival Association (ACDFA), and at the University of Iowa Dance Gala 2004 - 2008, which featured her in several ballet solos and duets.

Jenna was chosen to be one of five spotlighted performers for Dance Gala 2008 media production, which included being interviewed and videotaped while rehearsing and performing. This video production is shown on the Big Ten Network as an hour-long special. Jenna assisted at the Joffrey Summer Intensive Audition at MN Dance Theatre in January of 2010, which involved studying the technique of 30+ students aged 11 to 21 to determine their skill level. Jenna recently filmed her first national commercial as a dancer for the company Big Lots, which will be aired starting May 26th.

Jenna currently teaches tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical and musical theatre at three dance studios around the Twin Cities area. She also serves as the Associate Director for the Waconia High School Show Choir, and led them to a successful 2009-10 season. When not dancing or thinking about dance, rare indeed, Jenna enjoys reading, eating and spending time lazing about with her boyfriend, Justin, and with her family and friends.
